Wooden Church Kon Tum is located on Nguyen Hue Street, built in 1913 by a French priest, has been recognized for its unique architecture of wooden materials and refining style.
To build this church, hundreds of cubic meters of high quality wood as rose-wood and ca chit were used. The church’s architecture is a wonderful mix of Roman style and distinctive characteristics of a traditional house of Ba Na ethnic. One of these characteristics is the church stands on the wooden pillars making it one meter higher than the ground, like many other hill tribes’ houses and communal houses in Central Highlands.
The second architecture’s trait inspired by a traditional method of the central people – the walls of the church are formed by a material which is made by mortar mixed with straw. There is also a displaying area of ethnic and religious products, a brocade textile facility, and an orphanage. This is one of the most churches in Vietnam for its unique architecture and design.
