Located just 400m south of Angkor Thom, visitors come to Phnom Bakheng mostly for the sunset view over Angkor Wat. This temple
was built by Yasovarman I, having five tiers, with seven levels in total, the first temple-mountain erected in the vicinity of the Angkor.
Each of the five tiers has 12 towers and the temple’s submit stands 4 towers while the number of seven levels represents the seven Hindu heavens. Accumulating all these numbers, we have number 108 which is an auspicious number and one that correlates to the lunar calendar.
