Besides Sao Beach, Khem Beach is another one of Phu Quoc beaches that has white sands. And the name of Khem Beach is name after the color of the sand – in Vietnamese, ‘Khem’ means ‘ice cream’ which is used to praise the ice cream white beach.
The beach was a restricted military zone but from 2014 on, Khem beach is open for public visit. Thanks to the work of the staff from the resorts here, Khem Beach is one of the cleanest beaches on Phu Quoc Island.
The crescent shaped beach is blessed with not only the white powdery sands but also the blue-green tint color of sea water, hence the nickname travelers called it ‘Emerald Bay’.
How to get to Khem Beach
The beach is located on the south eastern coast of Phu Quoc Island in An Thoi Commune, just south of Sao Beach. From Duong Dong town, it’s 24 kilometers away. You can get to the beach via two routes: by going south on Tran Hung Dao then turning into DT975 or by going south on highway DT46.
What to expect at Khem Beach
Khem Beach is just perfect for a beach break from Duong Dong town or Sao beach which is always full of tourist crowds. You can spend time swimming or just relaxing on the beachside.
Come to Khem Beach, tasting the delicious local dish such as herring salad would be a must.
Above Bai Khem beach is a peaceful small fishing village, with many basket boats which you can rent one and have some fun while try rowing, it’s not easy but will be an interesting experience. The idyllic life here is also a feature that you can observe and interact with the locals.
