Day 2: Hanoi Full day City Tour

Meal Provided: Breakfast, Lunch

Start a new day by visiting Ho Chi Minh Complex, an important place of pilgrimage. A traffic-free area of botanical gardens, monuments, memorials, and pagodas, it’s usually crowded with groups of all ages, from all over the nation, who has come to pay their respects. Within the complex, you can visit Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum(Outside visiting as it’s closed for annual maintenance), Ba Dinh Square, the Presidential Palace, Ho Chi Minh’s Stilt House, and Ho Chi Minh Museum.

Closed by, the famous One Pillar Pagoda which is built of wood on a single stone pillar 1.25 m in diameter. It is designed to resemble a lotus blossom, which is a Buddhist symbol of purity, since a lotus blossoms in a muddy pond.

Then you will visit the Temple of Literature (Vietnamese name is Quoc Tu Giam) – Vietnam’s first University, which was built in 1070 in honor of Confucius, his followers, and Chu Van An, a moral figure in Vietnamese education.

Lunch is served at a local restaurant.

Then take a cyclo in Hanoi Old Quarter – 36 streets and guilds to discover the ancient feature of Hanoi and daily life. Stop to visit Ngoc Son Temple which is located at the northern end of Sword Lake (aka Hoan Kiem Lake). From the shore, walking on the Welcoming Sunlight Bridge leads to the island.

Your last stop is at St Joseph’s Cathedral, a 19th-century neo-Gothic church built with the Notre Dame of Paris in mind. The church is a gathering place for the large Roman Catholic community of Hanoi and is also popular with tourists. Constructed when the French first occupied the city, St. Joseph Cathedral is a striking example of colonial architecture in Hanoi.

Our walking winds down with a stop at a popular cafe to try the famous Vietnamese egg coffee and a top-secret dessert which you only know when you travel with us!  First invented in 1946, it’s a delicacy of whipped egg yolk with sugar and condensed milk for sweetness, and just a drop of vinegar to fluff the eggs.  This is floated on top of a shot of espresso and dusted with cocoa powder. The end result is a coffee experience like no other, and a taste and texture reminiscent of tiramisu.

Day 6: Half day exploring Hue city – Private transfer to Hoian

Meal Provided: Breakfast, Lunch

This morning, enjoy a visit to the two tombs of the Kings of the Nguyen Dynasty. Each tomb has a specific style and architecture.
King Tu Duc’s tomb is located in a narrow valley in Duong Xuan Thuong village (currently Thuong Ba village, Thuy Xuan Commune, Hue City). It is one of the most beautiful works of royal architecture of the Nguyen dynasty.

The tomb of King Khai Dinh is located on Chau Chu Mountain near Hue in Vietnam. It was built from 1920 to 1931 taking 11 years to complete. In comparison with those of the preceding emperors, Khai Dinh’s tomb is much smaller on the surface but it is very elaborate. It is the result of the intermingling of many architectural trends: European and Asian, as well as ancient and modern.

Keep traveling from Hue to Hoian via Hai Van Pass crossing over the last spur of the Truong Son (Annamite) Range as it juts into the sea and is stunned by its spectacular scenery and the harmonious beauty of the clouds, mountains, and sea. Just over 20 km of rolling and winding Hai Van Pass, Lang Co will immediately appear as a charming picture. It is completely embraced with one side of high mountains, and one side of immense sky and seas. You will flock to Lang Co beach to seek a wonderful landscape created by both nature and humans.

Lunch is served at a local restaurant.

You will spend the afternoon with a walking tour around this enchanting port town of Hoi an, follow the narrow lanes lined with centuries-old houses influenced by Chinese, Japanese, French, and European architectures, and visit its numerous places of interest: the 400-year-old Japanese Covered Bridge, the Phuc Kien Assembly Halls, the Tan Ky old house, the local market …

Japanese Covered Bridge dated back to the 18th century and is a beautiful historical piece of Japanese architecture. It is claimed that it was created by the Japanese then living in Hoi An as a way to reach the Chinese quarter across the water. The bridge was opened by Nguyen Phuc Chu Lord in 1719 who carved three Chinese symbols above the door in commemoration.
Phuc Kien Assembly Halls were built around 1690 and function as a traditional assembly hall for the Chinese ethnic group from Fujian, China to socialize, but later was transformed into a temple dedicated to their deity named Thien Hau – the goddess of the sea who protects sailors from danger.
Tan Ky’s old house is an almost perfect example of an 18th merchant’s residence in this major commercial port town. The name Tan Ky, meaning “Progress Shop”, was given to the house by the second generation to express the owner’s wish for a prosperous business. Around the town, you can see numerous art galleries and tailor shops. You are also free to get some made-to-order clothes if you like.

Participating in Lantern Making Workshop – a great activity for all ages to sit down for a few hours. It’s time to make your own lantern to take home as a memory from Hoi An.
Drop off at your hotel in Hoian and relax.

Day 13: Siem Reap tour

Meal Provided: Breakfast, Dinner

This early morning, transfer to the archaeological site for the sunrise from the Phnom Bakheng, one of two hills dominating the plain of Angkor, from where you will have a spectacular view of the Western Baray and Angkor Wat
Or sunrise at Srah Srang. Return to the hotel for breakfast.

After that, drive through the typical Khmer countryside to the Banteay Srei temple (10th century) regarded as the jewel in the crown of classical Khmer art. Then visit Banteay Samre, one of the most complete complexes at Angkor due to restoration using the method of “anastylosis”. The name Samre refers to an ethnic group of mountain people, who inhabited the region at the base of Phnom Kulen and were probably related to the Khmers. No inscriptions have been found for this temple, but the style of most of the architecture is of the classic art of the middle period similar to Angkor Wat.  The proportions of Banteay Samre are splendid. A unique feature is an interior moat with laterite paving, which when filled with water must have given an ethereal atmosphere to the temple.

In the afternoon, you continue your temple visits to Preah Khan. Built by King Jayavarman VII, Preah Khan is, like Ta Prohm, a place of towered enclosures and shoulder-hugging corridors. Unlike Ta Prohm, however, the temple of Preah Khan is in a reasonable state of preservation and ongoing restoration efforts should maintain and even improve this situation. Neak Pean, a fountain built in the middle of a pool (representing the paradisiacal Himalayan mountain lake), Ta Som. Continue the temple tour to Ta Prohm, one of the area’s most beautiful temples.  Ta Prohm has been left relatively untouched since it was discovered and retains much of its mystery. Its appeal lies in that, unlike the other monuments of Angkor, it was abandoned and swallowed by the jungle, looking very much the way most of the Angkor temples appeared when European explorers first stumbled upon them.

Stay overnight in Siem Reap.
